In short
- The website uses no cookies, no analytics and loads nothing from external services.
- The Minecraft server processes what it needs to let you play and to enforce the rules: nickname, UUID, IP address, chat and game data.
- Tickets are opened on Discord, which is a third-party service.
- The ban list is public: nickname, reason and dates of the ban.
- We don't sell data and we don't use it for advertising.
Who the controller is
The data controller is Naletto Samuele, in Italy, who runs the Kaksiland server. For any request about your data, write to kaksiland@gmail.com or open a ticket on our Discord.
The website
The website is made of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics or advertising tools, and fonts and images are hosted on the site itself: when you open a page your browser doesn't contact any other service.
Web server logs. Like every website, the hosting provider automatically records IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type. They're used for security and technical operation (legitimate interest, art. 6.1.f GDPR) and the provider keeps them only as long as that requires.
Nothing on your device. The website stores nothing in your browser: no cookies and no other data. Details are on the cookies page.
External links. The Discord button takes you to a third-party service only when you click it; from there, Discord's rules apply.
The Minecraft server
When you join the server we process:
- Account data: nickname, UUID and skin, which Minecraft makes visible to every server.
- IP address and connection times, for security and to enforce bans and the rules on alternative accounts.
- Chat and commands, for moderation and to check reports.
- Game data: position, inventory, claims, EuroKaksi, skills, statistics.
- Sanctions: warnings, mutes and bans, with reason and dates.
We use them to let you play (performance of the service, art. 6.1.b GDPR) and to keep the server safe and enforce the rules (legitimate interest, art. 6.1.f GDPR). Sanctions are decided by the staff.
How long. Connection, chat and command logs follow Minecraft's standard settings: the server saves them in one file per day. We keep them only as long as they're needed for security and moderation, for example to check a report, an attack or an alternative account. Game data stays as long as the world you played in exists.
Plugin data. Data saved by the server's plugins, such as the sanction history, is kept for each plugin's standard period. The sanction history is also how we spot repeat offences, which the rules punish with double sanctions.
Account verification. When you connect, the server checks your account with Mojang/Microsoft servers, as every Minecraft server does. For that part Microsoft is an independent controller and its own privacy statement applies.
Discord and tickets
Announcements, events and tickets go through our Discord server. When you open a ticket we keep its messages and transcript: they're used to handle your request and, if it's about a sanction, to be able to review it. We do it because you ask us to (art. 6.1.b GDPR). Transcripts are kept for 12 months after the ticket is closed.
Discord is a third-party service: what you write there is also processed by Discord, under its own privacy policy.
Public pages with personal data
Bans. On the rules page we publish nickname, skin head, reason, date, expiry and the role of whoever issued the ban. We do it for transparency and for the safety of the community (legitimate interest). Expired or lifted bans disappear from the list at the next update. We never publish IP addresses. If you think the publication is wrong, you can object with a ticket.
Staff. The About page shows the nicknames and skin heads of staff members, with their consent, which they can withdraw whenever they want.
Who receives the data
- Technical providers: Cloudflare hosts the website and protects it from attacks. The Minecraft server is hosted by Lagless, in Frankfurt, Germany. They process data on our behalf, as processors.
- The staff, for moderation.
- Mojang/Microsoft, for account verification, and Discord, for what you write on our Discord server.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it (art. 6.1.c GDPR) or to report a crime, for example an attack on the server.
We don't sell or hand over data to anyone else. If one day Kaksiland passed to a new operator, the data would go with the server, with the same safeguards; we'd announce it on Discord first.
Data outside the European Union
The Minecraft server and its data stay in the European Union, in Germany. Cloudflare, Microsoft and Discord, on the other hand, are US companies and may process data in the United States: for Cloudflare, these are the technical logs of visits to the website. The transfer relies on the company's participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. If you want to know which safeguards apply in your case, write to kaksiland@gmail.com or open a ticket.
Minors
Many players are minors. We don't ask for data beyond what's needed to play and we don't use it for advertising. Under Italian law, below 14 consent to data processing is given by a parent (see the terms). If you're a parent and want to know what data we hold about your child, or ask for it to be deleted, write to kaksiland@gmail.com or open a ticket.
Your rights
At any time you can ask us to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, receive a copy in a readable format or object to processing based on legitimate interest (arts. 15-22 GDPR). Where you gave us consent you can withdraw it whenever you want; what was done before stays valid. Write to kaksiland@gmail.com or open a ticket: we reply within one month.
If you think we're mishandling your data you can complain to the Italian Data Protection Authority (garanteprivacy.it) or to the supervisory authority of the European country where you live or work.
Deleting your data
Ask by writing to kaksiland@gmail.com or with a ticket. We'll confirm we've received the request and tell you if any data can't be deleted, and why. Deleting game data means losing your progress. Sanction history stays for the periods above: a ban can't be dodged by asking for deletion.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top and announce important changes on Discord.
